John McKean
John McKean, who has been Professor of Architecture at Brighton University for 11 years, is currently completely rewriting the classic door-stopper, Banister Fletcher's History of Architecture. Is it of interest to know that Stonehenge and the Pyramids were being built at the same time? That American colonial building techniques involved the traditional west African skills of slaves? That Brighton's Royal Pavilion was being copied in mid-19th Century India? John McKean argues that taking a global view of what was going on at any time in the past makes us think again about what we consider our architectural heritage.
